Terms & how twirl works

Last updated: July 2026

Welcome to twirl! We keep this plain and honest. By creating an account you agree to the terms below. If something here isn’t for you, please don’t use twirl.

1. What twirl is

twirl is a campus marketplace where students buy, sell, and rent clothing from each other. twirl provides the platform and handles payments — but the items are listed, sold, and handed off by students directly. twirl is not the seller of any item.

2. Who can use it

You need a valid .eduschool email and must be 18 or older. You’re responsible for what happens on your account, so keep your login private.

3. Buying & escrow

When you buy an item, your payment is held safely in escrow— the seller doesn’t get paid yet. Once you receive the item, tap “I got it”and the seller is paid. If you don’t confirm within 2 days, the payment auto-releases to the seller. If something’s wrong, tap “Report a problem”to pause it while it’s sorted out.

4. Selling & getting paid

To receive money, sellers set up payouts through Stripe, our payments partner. Stripe securely collects your bank details — twirl never sees them. After a buyer confirms, your earnings are transferred to your Stripe account and paid out to your bank.

5. Fees

twirl charges a 4% fee on each sale. In addition, the standard card-processing fee(charged by Stripe, roughly 2.9% + $0.30) is deducted from the seller’s payout. So as a seller, you receive the sale price minus twirl’s 4% and the card fee. Buyers pay the listed price — no added buyer fee. For example, on a $10 sale the seller receives about $9.01 (Stripe ~$0.59, twirl $0.40).

6. Listings & meetups

Sellers must list items they actually own, describe them honestly, and only post appropriate clothing (no counterfeit, unsafe, stolen, or prohibited items). Buyers and sellers arrange pickup themselves — meet in a safe, public campus spotand use good judgment. twirl isn’t present at handoffs and isn’t responsible for them.

7. Item quality & disputes

twirl is the venue, not the seller, and doesn’t inspect items — so the condition is between buyer and seller. The escrow window is your protection: check the item before you tap “I got it.” If there’s a genuine problem, report it and twirl will look into it, but twirl can’t guarantee outcomes.

8. Refunds

Refunds are handled case by case while a payment is still held or disputed. Once a payment has been released to a seller, refunds may not be possible. Contact us quickly if there’s an issue.

9. Your responsibilities

Be honest, be kind, and don’t use twirl for anything illegal or against your school’s rules. We may suspend accounts that break these terms, scam others, or misuse the platform.

10. Limits

twirl is a student-run platform provided “as is.” We do our best but can’t guarantee the platform is always available or error-free, and we aren’t liable for disputes between users or for issues with items bought or sold. Your use is at your own risk.

11. Changes

We may update these terms as twirl grows. If we make big changes, we’ll let you know. Continuing to use twirl means you accept the current terms.
